Performed mainly in Portuguese with an English introduction, and mixed languages throughout.

Written by the great Italian playwright Dario Fo, this radical interpretation by one of Brazil's leading actors, Julio Adriâo, is one-man physical storytelling that needs no translation.

A Descoberta das Americas is the story of the Conquest of the Americas, as seen through the eyes of Johan Padam, a good-for-nothing, who somehow finds himself sailing to the New World alongside Colombus. It doesn't take long for Johan to be captured by an indigenous tribe and prepared for slaughter. Not only does he avoid being sacrificed, he learns the native language, joins his capturers and becomes a warrior leader against his former countrymen.
