About Julio Etchart:
Julio grew up in Uruguay before settling in Britain where he studied Photojournalism. He has covered events worldwide for the international press as well as producing work for non-governmental organizations. About Onion Lullaby:
Irina (UK) and Octavio (Mexico) are Onion Lullaby, an emerging multicultural live art collective who works across a variety of media and disciplines, facilitating dialogue between visual arts and theatre.
Rehearsing Reality portrays the lives of the people in the Brazil’s Landless Movement and their struggle for land at the point of interaction with Boal’s Theatre of the Oppressed, a technique that breaks the conventions of traditional theatre by transforming a passive audience into active participants. Rehearsing Reality has been screened in festivals in Europe, the USA and Brazil, receiving great praise for combining strong content with groundbreaking creative documentary viewing.
About the filmmaker:
Nina Simões was born in São Paulo, Brazil and moved to London in 1990. She has researched, produced and directed documentaries for the BBC, Channel 4 and other companies. She has campaigned extensively to raise awareness of oppressed groups in her country. Nina holds a PhD in new media from the University of Arts London and is currently the Director of Translimit storytelling. More info here
