On a remote little island in Southern Chile the construction of a new dyke begins and the local people are forced to abandon their homes. In the face of this expulsion, they meet at Bar Ensueño, the town’s only pub and turn it in a space of resistance, celebration and dreams.
Hugely fun and performed with great wit and an original Chilean live musical score, Caldo’s political satire asks whether we’re prepared to sacrifice our heritage and history to the Greater Good or whether there might be another way. A play for anyone committed to social justice, it is also a compelling reflection on the rampant modernity we live in.
