Experience video performance screenings and a live conversation exploring artistic practice, archives and how systems shape what is seen and remembered.
Presented by CASA in collaboration with Performance Art Video and Brixton House
Curated by Gabriela Román González and Laurenz Agustín Argüello
Presented in collaboration with Performance Art Video, this event brings together a selection of video works alongside a live conversation exploring how artists engage with systems that shape contemporary life and artistic practice.
Through screening and discussion, the session opens space to consider how different artistic approaches, spanning performance, moving image and conceptual practice, develop ways of questioning, navigating and and at times resisting the structures that frame visibility, authorship and access.
Bringing together artists and invited contributors, the conversation will explore how these systems are encountered, negotiated and challenged in practice, and how artistic work can operate as a space for critique, reflection and repositioning.
This event forms part of a day of live encounters on 4 July at Brixton House, bringing together performance, exhibition, moving image and discussion.
Part of Lines of Flight
This event is part of Systems in Question, a strand of Lines of Flight, CASA’s multi-arts programme at Brixton House exploring how artistic practices engage with structures of power, visibility and public life.
