Since launching in November 2025, Lines of Flight, our year-round multi-arts programme at Brixton House, has brought together some of the most compelling artistic voices working across Latin America, the Caribbean and their diasporas.

Conceived and curated by Gabriela Román González, Lines of Flight unfolds as a year-long curatorial journey that embraces ambiguity, welcomes paradox and treats complexity not as a problem to solve, but as a condition to think with. At a cultural moment increasingly drawn towards speed, certainty and fixed positions, the programme insists instead on the slower work of asking better questions, and on staying with contradiction long enough for new ways of seeing, relating and imagining to emerge.

Across four evolving chapters, we have been exploring how art transforms perception, moves across geographies and traditions, and reveals the social, political and institutional systems that shape our lives.

This autumn, Lines of Flight reaches its final chapter – Acts of Looking – asking What deserves our attention? What remains invisible? Which ways of knowing have we been taught to overlook?

Every act of looking is also an act of choosing.

Across exhibitions, art residencies, dance, performance and celebration, we invite you to slow down and attend to forms of knowledge and ways of living that often remain at the margins.

In October, Acts of Looking turns towards our relationships with bodies, materials, landscapes and other forms of life. Through exhibitions, residencies, dance and public gatherings, the programme invites us to slow down and consider what becomes possible when we pay attention differently, culminating in a full day of movement, performance and collective encounter across Brixton House on 25 October.

In November, it shifts its attention towards the stories we carry, how and where we belong, and the ways we make space for one another. Photography, performance, film and conversation lead towards the final gathering of Lines of Flight on 21 November – a day of shared experiences, conversation and celebration, ending, fittingly, on the dance floor.
