Overview

This summer, CASA brings Lines of Flight back to Brixton House with a new season of exhibitions, residencies, performances and public events exploring transnational experience, collective artistic process, and the social and political systems that shape contemporary life.

Across June and July, Systems in Question brings together live art, moving image, participation and visual practices to explore how power is organised and felt through the structures that shape everyday life. From permissions and exclusions to the codes that govern movement, gathering and visibility, the programme looks at how systems are lived through the body, negotiated in public space, and examined through conceptual and critical artistic forms. Through performance, exhibition and collective encounter, it turns to practices that can make those conditions visible, and at times challenge, interrupt or reimagine them.

A central strand of the programme is a Live Art Residency developed in collaboration with Performance Art Video, and with support from Live Art Development Agency (LADA) and IKLECTIK. Across June, selected artists working across live and hybrid practices develop new work in response to these questions, culminating in a public presentation on 4 July. Alongside this, a newly commissioned exhibition featuring Îlle Sartuzi and Débora Delmar expands the programme through conceptual and visual practices that bring systems of power, locality and contemporary life into critical focus.
