Back by popular demand, this year’s Community Day is bigger and better than ever! Here’s a bit about what we’ve got lined up…

12pm – 2pm Mask-Making Workshop with mask maestro Tito Vega, of Gozart London.
Gozart uses art as a vehicle for community building and education, to promote cultural diversity. Gozart continually seeks to create opportunities for people to experience playfulness, magic and hope.
Come and show off your best crafting skills!

2.30pm – 3.30pm Chilean Dance Workshop with Claudio Vera, of Grupo del Sur.
Ready to get physical? Then hot-foot it to this workshop and learn some Latin moves from the heart of Chile!
Led by dance expert Claudio Vega, Grupo del Sur has been promoting Chilean traditional dances and culture in the UK since 2005. What better way to spend a Sunday afternoon than joining them for a dance?

3.30pm – 4.30pm Singing Workshop with Camilo Menjura.
Colombian musician Camilo Menjura, winner of the LUKAS 2013 Award for Community Worker of the Year, invites you to get vocal and join him in a harmonious hour of traditional Latin American songs.

3.30pm – 4.30pm Luna Playback and Independent Workers Uninon presentation

4.00pm – 4.30pm Los Comediantes, directed by Luis Blanco.
Premiering at our Open CASA Day, under the direction of Chilean director Luis Blanco, Los Comediantes will be presenting an original piece, in homage to the centenary of Chilean poet and Nobel Prize Winner, Pablo Neruda. Come and support one of the first Latin American theatre companies in the UK and celebrate the incredible legacy of one of South America’s best-loved poets.

And finally, the piece de resistance, the highlight of our 2013 Community Programme… The CASA Community Theatre Group show at 5.00pm
For over 4 months, our group has been rehearsing hard to bring to you our very first CASA Community Show. Drawn from traditional folk tales from all over the world, and the collective experiences and stories from the members of our group, it is surely the heart of this year’s Open CASA.

*Prior to the start of the day, there will be a performance of A Cortina da Baba by Brazilian Grupo Sobrevento at 11am – tickets are available for ?5 . Grupo Sobrevento will give a backstage tour and puppetry workshop after the show. Come along, it’s free!
